Artist Profile

Overview Aaron McKissen is originally from Memphis, Tennessee but now resides here in Denver, Co. He graduated from Metro State College in Denver, CO with a BA in Fine Art. His main focus is on illustrations, comic book art and story boarding for short films. He has been concentrating on this form of artwork for 3 years. Career He pursued a career as a story board artist shortly after graduation and moved to California but the competition there caused him to lose interest and move back. Aaron now develops story boards for short film productions here in Colorado along with his brother Stephen McKissen. Together they have formed a film making team and plan to one day produce a series of short films and comic books together. Artwork His artwork has been published in school magazines & newspapers when he was at Colorado Christian University around 1992 -1995, and also here & there on the Internet, mostly on star wars fan sites. Right now his long-term goals are to just do storyboards and production design for movies. "To take part in that process would be a great career. To see my name in movie credits. :)" Inspiration When asked what inspires his artwork Aaron said, "Dreams, whenever I remember them or write them down. Also just creating another world or another time through artwork. I enjoy telling a story through artwork. I have also been inspired from time to time by music to create pieces that go with it, like in Disney's Fantasia. " Quirks Every artist has an interesting quirk or fact about them that not many people know of. "My whole life is an interesting quirk. I could say one thing is that I attempted to print out my own comic strips when I was in junior high, using public copier machines and the church copy machine. They were comic strips starring my family's pet cat and dog, Hobie and Buffy, and sold to friends and family for something like 50 cents."
